After being exhibited at the Ghia stand at the Turin Motor Show in 1956, the new Nibbio was tested on 28 March 1956 on the high-speed track at Monza. The following 6 June, again on the Monza circuit, the vehicle driven by Lurani and Campanella set its first international record, that of the D class (up to 350 cc) over 3 hours, covering 394.037 kilometres, at an average speed of 131.345 km/h. This same record was improved by the Nibbio on 26 April the following year when Campanella, Poggio and Volpini lapped Monza for three hours at an average speed of 141.643 km/h.
